Will Europe wait for Atletico Madrid?

Atletico Madrid have weakened a lot this season due to two huge losses, Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero.

Forlan and Kun Aguero left the second best Madrid's side, and the players who joined the club last summer haven't made a huge impact on Atletico Madrid's performance yet. Arda Turan, Adrian and Diego are second-class players and surely are not adequate replacements for stars like Diego Forlan and Kun Aguero. Goalkeeper De Gea also joined Manchester United, which was a huge blow for the Spanish squad.

In the previous years "los colchoneros" always counted on playing in one of the European competitions and often were a part of the Champions League.

Nowadays, things have changed. Atletico's fans are suffering a lot. Their favorite team is playing well at Vicente Calderon, but when they leave the home ground they are far from impressive, only one draw in five matches.

If we are to "judge the book by it's cover", Atletico Madrid will not take part in one of the European competitions next season, but we have to admit it is still early to place bets, although the bookies all around the world have already put different odds for Atletico to play in the Europe league and the Champions league .

The Champions League is surely a mission impossible for "colchoneros" due to fantastic performances from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla and Valencia. "The project Malaga" is still fresh and it will probably have to wait another season to start dreaming about the Champions league, although the Europe League is still plausable.

We should not forget Athletic Bilbao, who have risen in the last few games and definitely should book a place in Europe at the and of the season. Levante is one of the biggest surprises in Primera division this season and surely should try to maintain the great form, but it will be very difficult due to quality-player insufficiency.

All in all, Atletico are capable of managing a place in the European competition this season, but it would be very hard without the club symbols Kun Aguero and Diego Forlan.
